Only in America can a fictitious holiday created in a comic strip
become celebrated by people all over the country. In a comic
strip Gasoline Alley, by Al Capp, the father of a homely daughter wanted to marry
off his daughter. He came up with a race in which girls who were not
pretty would race after the men in the the town. If they caught
them, they were theirs to marry. Towns and schools across the
country have changes the rules a little, but there are plenty of
"Sadie Hawkin's Dances" in which the girls asks the guys to
attend. |

Okay
ladies, this day is for you. As long as men do not let chivalry and machismo
into the picture, ladies have the burden of being aggressive on this
holiday.
Ask
him out: It is up the woman to ask out the man - but where to take
them? You do not need to think fancy or expensive. Men will
eat at a greasy spoon if the food is good, and there are very large
portions. So keep that in mind when making reservations.
Invite
him over: Make dinner. Guys like a nice home cooked meal.
Even if you are married, and make dinner every night, make this day
special and actually ask him to dinner. Most men like steak, or a
nice surf and turf dinner. You can get some great stuff from Omaha
Steaks.
Make
him feel special: Buy a little token of affection. Some
suggestions include: Cigars, chocolates, tickets to a sporting event, food
(the stomach is quickest way to his heart)
